The School Counseling Program is an important part of the school's educational program and is available to help meet the needs of all students. The goal is to assist students, parents, and teachers by positive interactions through the
three specific domains of career, academic, and personal/social awareness. Services are delivered through the following counseling activities.
Individual Counseling
Counseling is available to students who self refer or who are referred to the counselor by a parent or teacher. If a
student needs to meet with the counselor regulary, a parent consent form will be obtained.
Group Counseling & Guidance
Sometimes students who are experiecing the same life episodes beneift from a group in which to share experiences and support. Possible group topices are Grief, Divorce or Family Change, Social Skills, Friendship, Problem-Solving, Anger, Study Skills, and Classroom Issues. Parent permission is required for group participation.
Classroom Guidance (CAPS)
The goal is for each class to receive classroom CAPS lessons every month. Lessons vary from topic to topic, but generally follow Character Building Traits identifed each month throughout the year.
